Recycling pick-up in Laurentian Hills is collected weekly, alternating between blue one week, and yellow the next. Yellow boxes are for fibers/paper. Blue boxes are for plastics, cans, glass, aluminum etc.  Recycling items can be put in a blue or yellow recycling box or a paper box, bin or laundry hamper and must be set out at curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. Be sure that your recycling containers are no larger than 18" x 20" x 21".   Larger garbage can style bins will not be picked up.

If your recycling or garbage has been missed, please contact the municipality by 3:30 pm on the day of pick-up and we will follow-up with the contractor on your behalf.  Shredded paper is accepted in a clear bag. Cardboard with wax will not be picked up. Cardboard must be broken down or cut up and not be any larger than 3 feet by 2 feet. Please keep all items loose in your bin/box. There has been a higher than usual amount of contaminated items left in Blue Boxes and Yellow Boxes.  Please note that the drivers may leave yours behind if the wrong items are in your bins. If you are unsure whether an item is accepted or not, please call us at the office at 613-584-3114.

Recycling has become the most effective way to reduce the amount of garbage going to our landfill sites. Council is committed to improving the waste diversion activities in Laurentian Hills to prolong the life of our landfill site. The more we can recycle, the better for the environment and our wallets.

There is no tipping fee for carpeting at the Baggs Road Landfill site.  The Landfill Board strongly recommends that you plan to cut and roll old carpeting as you remove it, as specified below and take it to the Baggs Road landfill site.  Carpets waste 4% of our valuable landfill volume with a value of $20,000/year.
